Third International Business Conference Opens in Georgetown: Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity
The third edition of the International Business Conference (IBC) officially opens on Tuesday at the Georgetown Marriott Hotel, positioning itself as the premier platform for investment, innovation, and international partnership under the theme “Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity.”
Organized by Action Invest Caribbean, the conference brings together business leaders, policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs from across the Caribbean and South America to explore opportunities within the region’s fastest-growing frontier economies.
Dr. Vishnu Doerga, Chairman of Action Invest Caribbean and IBC organizer, stated that the conference aims to connect local enterprises with global capital while expanding avenues for collaboration.
“Any business that may not think they’re a good fit for the actual conference but still want to meet with exhibitors can get a trade visitor pass,” Dr. Doerga explained. “It’s an open opportunity to engage with companies from across the region who are here in Guyana for the International Business Conference.”
With Guyana’s rapid economic growth driven by the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors, and Suriname emerging as a rising export and manufacturing hub, the IBC is seen as a strategic bridge linking global investors with local opportunities.
“It’s very appropriate to start building the business bridges between local and international investors,” Dr. Doerga emphasized. “That’s what we’ve been doing in the last two editions—and this year continues that mission.”
The conference highlights sector-focused collaboration in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, ICT, logistics, agriculture, and financial services, all of which align with regional development priorities. Organizers expect over 1,000 participants to attend this year’s event.
Dr. Doerga added that the IBC also serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, giving participants direct access to investment and trade agencies.
“We want participants to get all the information they need in one place,” he said. “We have investment officers from the Guyana Office for Investment and the Suriname Investment and Trade Agency ready to answer every question.”
The International Business Conference continues to solidify its reputation as a hub for strategic partnerships, driving sustainable economic growth and fostering regional prosperity.
