The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has announced a major milestone as its President, Wayne Forde, has been appointed to serve on FIFA’s Men’s National Team Competitions Committee for the 2025–2029 term. The appointment, confirmed by FIFA’s Council, marks a significant achievement for Guyana and the wider Caribbean, underscoring the nation’s growing influence in global football governance.
Meanwhile, the GFF successfully concluded its largest-ever FIFA Member Association Referee Course, which trained 24 referees and six observers. The program—facilitated by FIFA technical and fitness instructors from Canada, Antigua and Barbuda, and Mexico—focused on updated rules, tactical fouls, and game management, ensuring local officiating standards align with global best practices.
In women’s football, action resumed in Division 1 of the GFF Women’s League 2025 at the National Training Centre in Providence, featuring matchups between Damoselle FC and the Guyana Police Force FC, and Guyana Defence Force FC versus Fruta Conquerors.
In volleyball, the Classic Ball Blasters dominated the National B Division Volleyball Tournament at the National Gymnasium, defeating Castro Volleyball Club 3–0 in the final to be crowned 2025 champions. Both teams will advance to represent Georgetown at the national playoffs.
And in cricket, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) is set to launch the 2025 Queensway Inter-County Super50 Tournament on Thursday at the Herdmanston Lodge, ahead of its October 11 start. The four competing squads, along with their coaches and managers, were announced last weekend.
