โBig Catchโ Fishing Competition
Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha participated in the annual โBig Catchโ Fishing Competition hosted by the Fisheries Department at the Kingston Seawall Jetty.
The event brought together ministry staff, students, and fishing enthusiasts for a morning of friendly rivalry.
Minister Mustapha said the initiative promotes responsible fishing while showcasing the potential of sport fishing in Guyana.
Police Support Youth Football
Assistant Commissioner Dion Moore, Commander of Police Division #7, donated 15 pairs of football uniforms to the Agatash Primary School football team.
The handover, held at the Bartica Police Headquarters, supports the teamโs participation in the Courts Under-11 Pee Wee Football Competition and encourages youth engagement through sport.
Pee Wee U-11 Football Tournament
Quarterfinal and semifinal action in the 2025 Courts Optical Pee Wee U-11 Tournament saw:
- Leonora Primary defeat Tucville Primary on penalties (3โ1).
- St. John the Baptist Primary beat St. Gabrielโs (3โ0) also on penalties.
- Redeemer Primary edged St. Pius (1โ0).
- West Ruimveldt topped Agatash (2โ0).
In the semifinals, St. John the Baptist beat Redeemer 2โ0, and Leonora Primary advanced with a 1โ0 win over West Ruimveldt to reach the final.
GFF Division 1 Womenโs League
In the Womenโs Division 1 League, Annโs Grove United secured a 2โ0 win over Monedderlust, with goals from Crystel Sutton and Alestacia Adrian.
Fruta Conquerors dominated Riversโ View United FC with a 5โ0 victory โ doubles from Dellana Small and Rihonna DaCosta, and one from Shemia Hing.
Georgetown Senior Menโs League
At the Police Sports Club Ground, Motherland FC edged Riddim Squad 1โ0 thanks to Charles Ehirim, while Beacon FC beat Ordis FC 4โ1 with goals from Douglas, Logan, Primo, and Vincent.
On Sunday, Pele FC and North Stars FC drew 0โ0, while Camptown FC defeated Eastveldt FC 3โ0.
Republic Bank U-18 Schools Football League
In U-18 school football, 3 Miles Secondary beat Dolphin Secondary 3โ1, and Charlestown Secondary topped Abram Zuil 2โ1.
West Ruimveldt Secondary crushed Presidentโs College 6โ0, led by Lyndon Grayโs hat-trick, while Chase Academic Foundation thrashed South Ruimveldt Secondary 10โ2, with Isaiah Ifill scoring a hat-trick and Shaquan David and Bryan Wharton netting doubles.
โKaiteur Attackโ Cycling Event
At the Kingston Bandstand Circuit, Guyanese cyclist Brighton John won the Kaiteur Attack Racing Clubโs 4th Annual Fireworks Race, edging Trinidadians Jadian Neaves and Leon Trepte.
