GBI Partners with Archery Guyana Ahead of Caribbean Championships

Guyana Beverages Incorporated (GBI) has fulfilled its commitment to Archery Guyana by providing official team shirts for the 42-member delegation representing the nation at the 2025 Caribbean Development Championships (CDC).
The branded attire, outfitting 31 athletes and 11 officials, ensures a unified and professional look for Team Guyana as they prepare to compete on the regional stage.
Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon expressed gratitude for the support, calling it โa reflection of shared commitment to youth empowerment, national pride, and sporting excellence.โ
GBI General Manager Samuel Arjune reaffirmed the companyโs dedication to local sports development, while Marketing Manager Anita Lal noted that the partnership aligns with the companyโs mission to invest in youth, health, and community advancement.
Minister Ramson Jr. Elected to UNESCO Anti-Doping Committee
Guyanaโs Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Charles Ramson Jr., has been elected to the Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport, following the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties to the International Convention Against Doping in Sport, held in Paris, France.
The fund, established in 2008, supports education, policy development, and capacity building in the global fight against dopingโparticularly for developing countries and small island states.
GDF Women Dominate as GFF Division 1 League Continues
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) continued their impressive run in the GFF Division 1 Womenโs League 2025, crushing Annโs Grove United 8โ0 at the National Training Centre in Providence.
In the evening fixture, Western Tigers and Mainstay Goldstars battled to a 1โ1 draw, keeping the standings tight heading into the next round.
Six Guyanese Players Drafted for Abu Dhabi T10
Six of Guyanaโs top cricketers have been drafted for the Abu Dhabi T10 League โ 2025 Night Edition.
The list includes:
- Shimron Hetmyer
- Sherfane Rutherford
- Romario Shepherd
- Gudakesh Motie
- Quinton Sampson (maiden call-up)
- Ashmead Nedd
Their participation strengthens Guyanaโs growing reputation in international short-format cricket.
Windies Fall to Bangladesh in Final ODI, Lose Series 2โ1
The West Indies suffered a crushing 179-run defeat to Bangladesh in the third and final ODI in Dhaka.
Bangladesh scored 296โ8, led by Soumya Sarkar (91) and Towhid Hridoy (80), while Akeal Hosein took 4โ41 for the visitors.
The Windies collapsed for 117 in 30.1 overs, with Nasum Ahmed (3โ11) and Rishad Hossain (3โ54) doing the damage.
Sarkar was named Player of the Match, while Hossain claimed Player of the Series for his 12 wickets.
