Motor Racing: Drag Wars 4 – International Showdown

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) will host Drag Wars 4 – The International Showdown Race Meet this Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the South Dakota Drag Strip, starting at 8:00 hrs.

  • The event is the decisive finale of the 2025 Drag Racing Season, where champions across multiple GMR&SC Drag Racing Championship classes will be crowned.
  • The meet will feature a head-to-head battle between the fastest cars and bikes from Guyana and Suriname competing on the quarter mile.
  • Organizers anticipate a large turnout of more than 100 competitors.

Football: Exxon Mobil Guyana Futsal Final

The 2025 Exxon Mobil Guyana Futsal Tournament concludes this Saturday with two fixtures at the Retrieve Hardcourt in Linden.

  • 3rd Place PlayOff: DC Ballers will battle The Hardknocks.
  • Grand Finale: Defending Champions YMCA “A” will take on the Silver Bullets.

Golf: Romel Golf Tournament

The Lusignan Golf Club is set to host the Romel Golf Tournament on Sunday, November 30, 2025, teeing off at 9:00 hrs.

  • The tournament will adopt a Medal Play Format over 9 holes with a Shotgun Start, allowing all groups to begin simultaneously.
  • Competitors will be placed into three handicap flights: 0–9, 10–18, and 19–28, plus a separate category for beginners.
  • Prizes will be awarded for Best Net (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) in each flight, Overall Best Net, Best Gross, Most Honest Player, Nearest to the Flag (9th Green), and Longest Drive (9th Hole).
  • Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Chess: GCF I-CEE Grand Prix 2 Chess Tournament Finale

The Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) I-CEE sponsored Grand Prix 2 Chess Tournament concludes this weekend at the School of the Nations in Georgetown.

  • The final four rounds are scheduled for Saturday, November 29th, and Sunday, November 30th.
  • Open Category Leaders (after four rounds):
    • 1st Place: Keron Sandiford
    • Tied 2nd Place: FIDE Masters (FMs) Anthony Drayton and Rawle Allicock (both on 3.5 points)
  • Female Category Leader (out of seventeen participants):
    • 1st Place: Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Aditi Joshi
    • Close Followers: Kataleya Sam, Treskolé Archibald, and Ciel Clement

Cricket: Youth ODI Series Update

The West Indies U-19 team holds a narrow lead as the series against England U-19 Boys heads into the penultimate match.

  • Result of 5th Youth ODI: England U-19 bounced back to secure a 2-wicket victory.
    • WI U-19 batted first and reached 276-9 (50 overs), led by Zachary Carter’s 87 (59) and Matthew Miller’s 44 (71).
    • England U-19 chased successfully, scoring 277-8 (49 overs), powered by a brilliant knock of 97 from Ben Dawkins and Isaac Mohammed’s 74 (75).
    • WI Bowlers: Jakeem Pollard and Vitel Lawes picked up 3 wickets each.
  • Series Status: WI U-19 now leads the series 3-2.
