Squash: Barbados Sweeps Senior Caribbean Titles
Barbados emerged dominant at the Senior Caribbean Squash Championship, claiming both individual singles titles as action concluded at the National Racquet Centre in Woolford Avenue on Tuesday.
- Men’s Title: Khamal Cumberbatch secured his third consecutive individual crown, defeating Bermudaโs Micah Franklin. Franklin was the first player in the tournament to win a set against the champion.
- Women’s Title: Megan Best earned her third career title by overcoming fellow Barbadian and defending champion Margot Prow in a competitive final.
Guyana’s Podium Finish: Host Guyana celebrated a medal in the Women’s Event as Ashley Khalil secured 3rd place after defeating compatriot Mary Fung-A-Fat. On the Men’s side, national champion Daniel Ince finished 4th after losses to Cumberbatch in the semi-final and Bermuda’s Taylor Carrick in the third-place playoff.
The focus now shifts to the Team Stage of the tournament, where Team Guyana is in hot pursuit of a 5th consecutive CASA title.
Hockey: Diamond Mineral Water Festival Launches
The 20th Diamond Mineral Water International Hockey Festival was officially launched by the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Tuesday.
Scheduled for November 27โ30, the tournament will see top local clubs (Old Fort, Pepsi Hikers, GCC, and Saints) compete against visiting teams from Trinidad and Tobago. Teams will vie for a combined prize purse of US$10,000 across four categories: Menโs, Womenโs, Masters Over-40, and Masters Over-50.
The addition of the two veteran categories is connected to the GHB’s preparations for the 2026 Indoor Hockey World Cup in Nottingham, for which the board plans to field multiple age-group teams. GHB Vice President Tricia Fiedtkou, DDL Brand Executive Raveena Mangal, and Ansa McAl Brand Executive Triston Freeman attended the launch. The Trophy Stall and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport also extended support.
Football: GFF Women’s League Action Continues
Action continued tonight in the Guyana Football Federation Division 1 Women’s League 2025 as Ann’s Grove United took on Fruta Conquerors FC at the National Training Centre in Providence.
After eight rounds of action, the top of the points table remains tight:

Cricket: Guyana Harpy Eagles Plagued by Rain
The Guyana Harpy Eagles were hit by yet another “No Result” in the 2025 Cricket West Indies Regional Super 50 Cup at the Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday. Their fixture against the Leeward Island Hurricanes was forcibly abandoned due to inclement weather, without a single delivery being bowled.
This marks the third time in four matches that rain has thoroughly washed out the Harpy Eagles’ fixtures. Guyana will be hoping for better fortunes as they are scheduled to take on the Barbados Pride at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St. Augustine on Thursday.
West Indies Warm-Up Match
Ahead of the First Test against New Zealand, the West Indies commenced a two-day warm-up match against a NZ Select XI at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Tuesday.
Winning the toss and batting first, the Windies reached 346-5 (96 overs) at the end of Day 1. Guyana’s own Tagenarine Chanderpaul top-scored with a patient 85 (211 balls). Brandon King (79) and John Campbell (68) also played well. Guyanese wicket-keeper batsman Tevin Imlach remained unbeaten on 25 (46) alongside Kavem Hodge, who was 55* (102).
The Select XI’s wickets were shared among Thomas O’Connor, Toby Hart, Jayden Lennox, and Rahmam Hekmat, each taking one.
