Team Guyana Departs for Islamic Solidarity Games
A section of Team Guyana’s contingent has departed for the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025.
Representing in table tennis are Shemar Britton, Elishaba Johnson, Nigel Bryan, Chelsea Edghill, Jasmine Billingy, and Thuraia Thomas, coached by Linden Johnson and Joel Alleyne.
Delroy Tyrell will compete in swimming with coach Ewin Munroe, while Keevin Allicock and Joel Williamson will represent boxing, coached by Lennox Daniels.
The 11-member track and field team, led by coach Quincy Clarke, will depart on November 13.


ExxonMobil Linden Futsal Tournament Kicks Off Friday
The 4th ExxonMobil Linden Futsal Tournament kicks off this Friday at the Retrieve Hardcourt, featuring 16 teams divided into four groups.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
Defending champions YMCA will field two teams this year.
The opening fixture begins at 18:30 hrs, with Fearless taking on Stabroek in Group D.
The knockout round begins November 21, the semifinals on November 22, and the final on November 29.


Guyana Ready to Host FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship
For the first time since 1994, Guyana will host the FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship, from November 12–16 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Participating nations include Guyana, Suriname, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, and Jamaica, competing in a single round-robin format.
The top three teams will qualify for the 2026 CentroBasket.
Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Hon. Steven Jacobs, reaffirmed Guyana’s readiness, noting upgrades such as a new parking area, the Hadfield Street entrance, and the technical area.
Guyana last won the title in 1996 and first hosted in 1988.


New Tiled Basketball Court for Campbellville
Residents of Campbellville can now access a newly constructed basketball court, replacing the one removed during the Conservation Tree Project.
The initiative followed consultations earlier this year between Public Works Minister Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill and community members.
According to GBF Vice President Rawle Toney, this is Guyana’s first tiled, all-weather basketball court, signaling major progress for the country’s local sports infrastructure.


West Indies Win 1st T20 Against New Zealand
The West Indies took a 1–0 lead in their five-match T20 series against New Zealand with a 7-run victory at Eden Park.
Batting first, the Windies posted 164–6 (20), led by Shai Hope’s 53 (39) and Rovman Powell’s 33 (23).
In reply, New Zealand managed 157–9 (20) despite Mitchell Santner’s unbeaten 55 (28).
Roston Chase earned Player of the Match, contributing 28 runs and 3–26 (4), supported by Jayden Seales (3 wickets) and Akeal Hosein (1).
The second T20 bowls off tomorrow at 2:00 a.m.
