ATHLETICS – GUYANA MOURNS DEAN “DE MAN” WILLIAMS
The Athletics Association of Guyana has announced the passing of five-time National Triple Jump Champion Dean Williams, sending shockwaves through the sporting community.
Williams was celebrated for his discipline, humility, and drive, representing Guyana with distinction on the international stage.
The association described him as a dedicated athlete whose passion “lifted the environment around him,” inspiring teammates and younger competitors.

Sprinter Kalisa Smith secured Guyana’s first medal at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Smith fought her way to a podium finish in the Women’s 100m final, placing behind competitors Edidiong Odiong and Kolle Etame Herverge Tonjock

CRICKET – WINDIES TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND
The West Indies suffered a five-wicket defeat in the second ODI against New Zealand in Napier on Tuesday.
In a rain-shortened match, the Windies posted 247–9 (34 overs), led by a stunning unbeaten 109 from captain Shai Hope, his 19th ODI century.
New Zealand reached 248–5 with Devon Conway scoring 90 (84) and Rachin Ravindra adding 56 (46).
The final ODI bowls off Friday at 21:00 hrs in Hamilton.
