JS Racing Stable made a major statement at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club Boxing Day Meet, capturing Champion Stable honours at Bush Lot Farm on the Corentyne Coast on Friday.
The stable secured two classic victories, along with one second-place and one fourth-place finish, at a meet which featured over $10 million in prize money.
The marquee Sunny Kharag Stakes, run over one mile and offering more than $4 million, including a $2 million winnerโs purse, was won by Mapa Do Brazil of JS Racing Stable. Ridden by Renaldo Appadhu, Mapa Do Brazil produced a strong mid-pack surge to defeat Loyal Company into second, with Anthem King finishing third. Stablemate Order and Progress placed fourth.
The Five Furlong Sprint Classic was claimed by Stats of Master Z Racing Stable, edging Regal Man of JS Racing Stable in a thrilling photo finish. Night Beacon and Morning Colours completed the placings.
JS Racing Stable also secured victory in the G and Lower Race as Mulan, again ridden by Appadhu, led from start to finish ahead of Red Ruby and Theory of Colours.
In other results, All The Time won the Guyana-bred Two-Year-Old Maiden Race over Sheโs A Dancer and Miracle Boy.
Country Rock captured the I and Lower Race ahead of Top Gun and Sarkar, before returning to win the L and K Class Event for Big G Racing Stable over Republican and Sarkar.
The L Class Event was won by Regal Surprise, followed by Doctor J, Miss Simpson, and Sheโs A Monica.
At the end of the meet, JS Racing Stable finished as the top stable, with Big G Racing Stable placing second. Renaldo Appadhu was named Top Jockey of the event.
Football: GFF Super 16 Cup
Moving into football, action resumed in the 2025 GFF Super 16 Cup on Friday at the National Training Centre in Providence.
In match one, GDF FC delivered a dominant 7โ0 victory over Mahaica Determinators. Shemar Scott and Makhaya Jarvis both netted braces, while Stephen McDonald, Jeffrey Pereira, and Jaden Harris added a goal each.
In match two, Elite League Champions secured a commanding 4โ0 win over Monedderlust FC, with goals from Raushan Rich, Kelsey Benjamin, Kemar Beckford, and Cardel Benbow.
Super 16 action continued tonight with Western Tigers facing GDF FC, while GPF FC meet Slingerz FC in the late fixture.
Womenโs Division One League
More football now, as playoff action concluded in the 2025 GFF Division One Womenโs League on Saturday.
In the third-place playoff, Santos FC secured a hard-fought 1โ0 victory over Fruta Conquerors, with Gabriel Rivera scoring the decisive goal.
In the grand final, league champions GDF FC produced a composed 2โ0 win over GPF FC, courtesy of goals from Shenessa Cornelius and Glendy Lewis.
Individual honours saw Deena Fredericks of GDF FC named Best Goalkeeper, Jenelle Edmondson of GPF FC winning Top Scorer, and Aaliyah Christie of GDF FC crowned Tournament MVP.
Kashif & Shanghai Futsal Tournament
Still in football, quarterfinal action continued in the 2025 Kashif and Shanghai Presidentโs Futsal Tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
In schoolboys action:
- New Central High School defeated Annandale Secondary 3โ0.
- Westminster Secondary edged Hope Secondary 3โ1.
- West Ruimveldt Secondary dominated St. Johnโs College 6โ0, led by a four-goal haul from Jeremiah Griffith.
- Dolphin Secondary blanked VYC Academy 4โ0.
In senior menโs quarterfinals:
- Bomb Squad edged Team Cruel 6โ4 in a thriller.
- Road Warriors demolished Team Family 11โ1.
- Bent Street A defeated Kingston 6โ3.
- Sparta Boss overcame Stabroek Ballers 5โ2.

Cricket
Finally, in cricket, the Guyana Cricket Board has announced its Senior Womenโs Squad for the upcoming CG United Super50 and T20 Blaze Championships.
Injury has ruled out West Indies all-rounder Cherry-Ann Fraser.
The squad will be captained by Shemaine Campbell, with Ashmini Munisar serving as vice-captain.
The squad includes:
