Youth football development in Guyana received a significant boost on Wednesday with the commissioning of the new KFC Pavilion at the Ministry of Education Ground. The ceremony, hosted by the Petra Organisation, brought together parents, athletes, students, and community members to celebrate the latest upgrade to the facility.
Petra officials said the pavilion was constructed not only to enhance the atmosphere of the venue but also to improve comfort for players and spectators, while symbolising the continued growth and advancement of youth football across the country. The initiative was hailed as another step toward creating professional-standard environments for young athletes.
Presidentโs One Guyana Futsal Championship Kicks Off in Style
Action got underway in the 2025 Presidentโs One Guyana Futsal Championship on Wednesday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, with several emphatic performances in the knockout stage.
Albouystown Ballers delivered the most dominant display, crushing Show Stoppers 10โ1. Joel Magrel starred with an outstanding five-goal haul, while Randy Maynard added a dazzling hat-trick to seal the rout.
Foot Steppers edged Real Sport 5โ3 in a tightly contested encounter, powered by a superb hat-trick from Anthony Roberts. Agricola Ballers secured a 4โ2 victory over Mocha Red Force, with Demane Cort netting a brilliant hat-trick. Elsewhere, Beavers registered a commanding 4โ1 win over Gaza Squad, and Kanaimas edged Paradise Invaders 2โ1, with Brandon Larose scoring both goals.
Tournament action continues with the menโs knockout phase alongside the schoolboysโ round-robin segment at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Womenโs Division One Football Sees Commanding Wins
Knockout action also commenced in the 2025 GFF Division One Womenโs Championship at the National Training Centre in Providence.
Santos FC opened their campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 5โ0 victory over Riversโ View United FC. In the second fixture, the Guyana Police Force FC continued their strong form, recording another dominant win over Mainstay Goldstars.
Carlos Adams Donates Golf Equipment to Lusignan Golf Club
In the spirit of the holiday season, renowned Guyanese athlete Carlos Adams has made a generous contribution to the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), donating three complete sets of golf clubs, including bags, putters, and gloves.
Adams, celebrated for his achievements across multiple sports, said the donation reflects his gratitude and desire to give back to a sport he loves. He noted that the equipment will assist the club in generating revenue through rentals while supporting visitors and newcomers who do not own their own gear.
The donation comes at a crucial time for LGC as it works to expand access to golf locally. Club officials expressed deep appreciation, highlighting that the new equipment will aid training programmes, increase participation, and enhance the overall playing experience.

New Zealand Take First-Innings Lead in Second Test
