Trinidad and Tobago: 21 Nationals to Be Deported from U.S.
Three convicted sex offenders, one murderer, a human trafficker, and four individuals with immigration violations are among 21 Trinidadian nationals set to be deported from the United States this Friday.
Speaking at his Temple Court, Port of Spain office, Defense Minister Wayne Sturge said adjustments may be needed to local laws to register sex offenders returning to Trinidad.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security confirmed the group—17 men and 4 women—are currently in ICE custody and will be returned via charter flight, the second such deportation since March 28, 2025.
United States: Supreme Court Allows Trump Admin to Strip TPS from Venezuelans
The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for thousands of Venezuelans, a measure originally extended by President Joe Biden.
The decision clears the way for deportations but does not yet affect work permits or TPS documents valid until October 2026. DHS previously stated 348,000+ Venezuelans were registered under Biden’s 2023 TPS designation.
This marks a significant step in Trump’s broader plan to tighten immigration laws ahead of the upcoming U.S. elections.
Mexico: Two Top Aides to Mexico City Mayor Assassinated
In a broad daylight ambush in central Mexico City, two senior aides to Mayor Clara Brugada were shot dead Tuesday by gunmen on a motorbike.
The victims were Samina Guzmán, the mayor’s private secretary, and José Manuel Núñez, a political advisor. Both were killed near a busy avenue in what security experts suggest was a targeted hit by organized crime.
The brazen assassinations have shocked the capital, long considered safer than other cartel-plagued regions. This incident adds to the growing wave of political violence that has claimed the lives of multiple public officials in recent years.
