Police in Jamaica are investigating the mysterious death of 20-year-old Victoria Brown Hanley, a student of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, whose lifeless body was discovered in her dorm room early Thursday morning.
According to reports, Brown Hanley’s roommate left their room on the fourth floor of George Alleyne Hall around 1:00 a.m. and returned shortly after 6:00 a.m. to find her face-down with a scarf tightly wrapped around her neck.
Campus security and police were immediately alerted, and Brown Hanley, who resided in Mandeville, Manchester, was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say they are not ruling out foul play as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding her death.
PM BISSSESSAR, DEFENCE MINISTER MUM ON TWO TRINIDADIANS KILLED IN U.S. STRIKE
In Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Defence Minister Wayne Sturge have remained silent amid reports that two nationals were among six people killed in a U.S. military strike off the coast of Venezuela earlier this week.
The Prime Minister, who attended the Caroni Lease Distribution Ceremony Part II at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s, refused to comment when approached by journalists.
Residents from the north coast fishing village of Las Cuevas identified two locals — Chad “Charpo” Joseph and Richie Samaroo — as victims of the strike, which U.S. officials claimed targeted a vessel “linked to narco-terrorist networks.”
The U.S. government has not provided evidence to substantiate its claims that the vessel was involved in narcotics trafficking.
President Donald Trump later stated that six “narcoterrorists” were killed in the operation, saying U.S. intelligence confirmed the vessel was “trafficking narcotics.”

However, Trump’s announcement of a new summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin — possibly to be held in Budapest — has raised doubts about the U.S. commitment to Ukraine’s defense.
Trump’s recent comments praising his “productive conversation” with Putin have fueled concerns among European allies that Washington may be softening its stance toward Moscow amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
