Brazil’s Bolsonaro Accused of Violating Court Order
Meanwhile, in Brazil, former President Jair Bolsonaro is under scrutiny after a Supreme Court judge accused him of breaching a social media ban by giving interviews that were later posted online by news outlets.
Justice Alexandre de Moraes had previously barred Bolsonaro from using social platforms and ordered him to wear an ankle monitor, citing alleged efforts to interfere with justice and solicit U.S. support against trade sanctions. Bolsonaro’s legal team argues the ban is unclear and is demanding a clarification from the court.
U.S. to Deport Green Card Holders Over Gang Links
In the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that particular lawful permanent residents (green card holders) could face deportation for alleged support of gang leaders affiliated with a U.S.-designated terrorist organization in Haiti.
The move follows the Trump administration’s decision in May to label the “Vaasan Armed Alliance” in Port-au-Prince a terrorist entity. While the exact number of green card holders impacted is unknown, the announcement is part of a broader crackdown on immigration, with Rubio also pushing to revoke visas of pro-Palestinian protesters.
