Guyana has once again secured a Tier 1 ranking in the U.S. State Department’s 2025 Trafficking in Persons Report, reaffirming its position among countries making the strongest efforts to combat human trafficking.
The report commends Guyana for maintaining robust anti-trafficking measures, including victim support systems, law enforcement training, and inter-agency collaboration. However, it also outlines key recommendations, such as expanding services in hinterland regions, strengthening prosecutions, and ensuring greater protections for vulnerable migrant communities.
Authorities here have welcomed the ranking as an endorsement of Guyana’s commitment to fighting human trafficking but acknowledge that continued vigilance and improvement are essential.
