During an engagement with permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries on Friday, President Irfaan Ali underscored his administration’s determination to accelerate and modernize public service delivery.
The Head of State outlined plans for a fully digitized governance framework built on customer service, efficiency, transparency, and performance-based results. “The transformation must always remain people-centered,” President Ali stressed, adding that reliability, efficiency, and timely delivery of services must guide every action taken by government officials.
He explained that the push for digital governance is not only about modernizing systems, but also about ensuring citizens benefit from responsive and accessible services.
As part of the first phase of his government’s second-term transition, the President announced new senior appointments:
- Sharon Rupchan Edwards – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Roger Rogers – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce
- Don Ellis – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture
- Dr. Erica Ford – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Human Services and Social Security
Additional appointments for other senior government officials will be announced in the coming days.
Earlier this week, Brigadier (ret’d) Mark Phillips and Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo were officially sworn in as Prime Minister and Vice President respectively, reaffirming continuity in the administration’s leadership.
