EDUCATION MINISTRY TO LAUNCH NATIONAL CONSULTATION TO CURB BULLYING IN SCHOOLS

By Jayda Juene | HGP Nightly News

Minister of Education Sonia Parag has announced that anti-bullying will be a top priority for her ministry in the coming weeks. She noted that bullying has been a persistent issue in schools and requires urgent but thoughtful action.

According to Minister Parag, solutions must be fair and holistic, as different types of bullying impact students in different ways. She pointed out that simply suspending or expelling offenders may not always be effective, since some students may welcome leaving school, leaving victims without closure.

The Education Minister emphasized the need for a national consultation involving students, parents, teachers, and the wider community before implementing new measures. She stressed that the ultimate goal is to create a culture where children feel safe, respected, and protected.
