CAB DRIVER SEEKING JUSTICE OVER 2018 STABBING, SAYS SUSPECT HIDING IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

East Coast Taxi Driver Begs for Justice Seven Years After Brutal Stabbing

Rondel Baptist, a taxi driver from Pleasant, is calling on the Guyana Police Force to urgently arrest and prosecute Kevin Dans, the man he claims nearly took his life during a stabbing incident in 2018.

Baptist told HGP Nightly News that despite multiple reports and eyewitness accounts, Dans remains at large, allegedly hiding in plain sight.

“He’s been hiding since that night. Police never apprehended him,” Baptist recounted. “I had to fight for my life. I was rushed to the hospital, and after surgery and recovery, I finally gave my statement.”

The brutal attack, according to Baptist, stemmed from a false rumor accusing him of revealing Dans’ extramarital affair to his wife.

“There was a rumor going around that I told his wife he was dating another woman. That wasn’t true. I wasn’t part of any of that funny business,” he said.

Now fully recovered, Baptist expressed frustration with the vigilance of the police at Vigilance Police Station, whom he accused of failing to keep him informed or take effective action.

“They’ve never made contact with me. It’s like they’re smiling with the suspect while I’m left with stab wounds in my back and belly,” he lamented.

Despite the passage of time, Baptist says his pain—both physical and emotional—remains fresh. He described a recent moment when he saw Kevin Dans from a distance.

“He came back the other night. I saw him in a car. I had to hold my composure. It’s unfair—I’ve never been in trouble with the law, never used drugs. Yet I’m the one left scarred.”

Reliable sources confirmed to Nightly News that police have made multiple attempts since 2018 to arrest Kevin Dans, but he continues to evade capture.

“He came up behind me, knocked me. I fired two punches. Then he stabbed me in the back and turned me over to stab me again,” Baptist recalled, still visibly shaken.

As he continues to seek closure, Baptist is appealing directly to law enforcement to act swiftly before Dans causes more harm.
