BUSTED! CANNABIS & METH FOUND IN LATE-NIGHT POLICE RAID AT PURUNI LANDING

PURUNI LANDING, REGION 7 – August 7, 2025 — A late-night police operation at Puruni Landing turned up a stash of cannabis and methamphetamine, landing a Guyanese man and his Venezuelan partner in the hands of the police.

Acting on intelligence, police ranks swooped in on the residence of Hudley Khan, also known as “Allan,” just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The 20-minute ‘Cordon and Search’ raid ended with a significant drug discovery—and an even more surprising confession.

Upon arrival at the property, police met Khan and his reputed wife, Yolimar Del Valle Rivas, a 32-year-old Venezuelan national. Officers requested permission to search the premises for illegal items, and without hesitation, Khan reportedly admitted, “I got drugs in my room.”

He then pointed officers to a multi-coloured bag which, once opened, revealed 23 bulky parcels and a transparent plastic bag containing what appeared to be cannabis—leaves, seeds, and stems. A separate plastic bag contained a rock-like white substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Khan took full responsibility for the drugs in a video- and audio-recorded confession. Both he and Rivas were arrested on the spot, cautioned, and taken into custody along with the seized narcotics. The search, from start to finish, was captured on police body cameras.

Police are still working to determine the total weight of the substances. Investigations are ongoing.

This latest bust adds to growing concerns about drug trafficking along interior corridors, with Region 7 increasingly under the microscope for cross-border narcotics activity.
