BIG PUSH TO THE LISTS: GECOM OPENS CONTINUOUS REGISTRATION MONDAY

GEORGETOWN — The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has announced that the second cycle of continuous registration for 2025 will officially begin on Monday, September 15, and run until Friday, November 28.

The exercise will be conducted at all of GECOM’s permanent registration offices across the ten Administrative Regions. It allows new registrants, as well as existing voters who need to update their information, to ensure that their names and details are accurate on the official voters’ list.

Anyone who will be 14 years or older by December 31, 2025, and is a Guyanese citizen, whether by birth, descent, naturalization, or as a Commonwealth citizen living in Guyana for at least one year; is eligible to register if they have never done so before.

GECOM emphasized that persons who are already on the list but need to correct or update their records, such as changes to names, occupations, addresses, or dates of birth, will also be facilitated during this period.

Applicants are required to present the relevant original source documents. These include:

  • For new registration: Original Birth Certificate, valid Passport, Adoption Certificate, Naturalization Certificate, Certificate of Registration, or Deed Poll with Birth Certificate (if applicable).
  • For changes to existing records: Original Marriage Certificate, Marriage Certificate with Decree Absolute for divorced women, Deed Poll with Birth Certificate, or a new Birth Certificate reflecting the updated name.

The registration offices will be open Mondays to Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

For further details, citizens are encouraged to visit GECOM’s website at www.gecom.org.gy, follow the Guyana Elections Commission on Facebook, or call 225-0277-9 or 223-9653.
