GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – Political aspirant Azruddin Mohamed was released from police custody on Thursday after law enforcement officials were unable to locate the woman who made serious allegations against him and his associate, Bradley ‘Doggy’ Sampson.
Mohamed had turned himself in to the Ruimveldt Police Station on the morning of July 17, 2025, in the company of his attorney, following reports that he may have attempted to pressure the woman into withdrawing a complaint of assault against Sampson.
During questioning, Mohamed denied any knowledge of a bribe being offered to the woman and rejected claims that he tried to influence her decision to report the matter to police.
The 29-year-old complainant, a Sales Representative from McDoom, had gone to the East La Penitence Police Station the day before and alleged that Sampson, a key figure in Mohamed’s political party, We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), assaulted her during a payment dispute.
She said she was promised $50,000 for work she did for the party on Nominations Day but was only paid $10,000 when she met Sampson at the Square of the Revolution on July 15. During the confrontation, she alleged that Sampson physically assaulted her and struck her in the head with a firearm.
She further reported that later that day, she was invited to Mohamed’s Green Field residence, where she was allegedly held for over an hour by armed guards, shouted at by Mohamed over the circulation of a video of the incident, and offered $500,000 to drop the case.
The woman also claimed that one of the guards threatened her by displaying a firearm. She said she was eventually allowed to leave but received multiple calls from Sampson the next morning urging her not to pursue the matter.
Based on the allegations, police launched an investigation, issued a wanted bulletin for Sampson, and attempted to make contact with Mohamed, who later surrendered.
However, police confirmed on Thursday that they were unable to locate the complainant for further clarification and to support the investigation. Without her presence or formal cooperation, police said they could not proceed with further questioning or detention of Mohamed at this time.
He was subsequently released from custody. The Guyana Police Force noted that the investigation remains open and that the matter may be revisited should the complainant be located or additional evidence surface.
Bradley Sampson remains the subject of a police manhunt. Authorities are urging members of the public with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
