ALI BLASTS ‘THREE-MONTH POLITICIANS,’ SAYS PPP/C ALONE HAS TRACK RECORD TO LEAD GUYANA

Georgetown, Guyana – August 30, 2025 – President Dr. Irfaan Ali has launched a sharp rebuke of his political opponents, branding them as inexperienced “three-month politicians” who cannot rival the People’s Progressive Party/Civic’s (PPP/C) 75-year legacy of leadership.

Speaking in an interview posted to his official Facebook page, the president said voters should not be swayed by “flash-in-the-pan” contenders who have appeared on the political scene with lofty promises but no track record of delivery.

“Winning people’s hearts is not about a day,” Ali said. “I see people who are in this political frame, for three months, believe you can just appear and replace 75 years of service, 75 years of commitment, 75 years of building trust. So, it’s not only about a day, it’s about people understanding which government has kept true to its promises, which government has led Guyana credibly through every phase of our development.”

Ali accused the opposition of lacking credibility both at home and abroad, arguing that electing untested or self-serving leaders would endanger Guyana’s sovereignty and economic future. “The question is, who do you trust to fix problems? Who do you trust to accept challenges and correct them? We have demonstrated time over time that you can trust us to do it,” he said.

The president contrasted what he described as his opponents’ political inexperience with the PPP/C’s five-year track record in government, pointing to expanded housing, modernized infrastructure, free university education, and investments in healthcare and education. He acknowledged that challenges remain but insisted that only the PPP/C has the credibility to confront them effectively.

He further argued that his government has gone “above and beyond,” creating momentum to carry Guyana’s economy forward and positioning the country to be globally competitive.

The president’s attack on his rivals reflects growing tension in the final days before elections, with Ali urging Guyanese to look beyond short-term promises and instead judge parties by their proven record. “What we have done in the last five years demonstrates to the people of Guyana that they can trust us,” Ali said.
