GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – The Alliance for Change (AFC) is promising a sweeping transformation of Guyana’s economy and infrastructure if elected to office in the September 1 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Sources on Sunday, the party’s leader and presidential candidate detailed key elements of the AFC’s 2025 manifesto, with a strong focus on economic diversification and large-scale development projects.
Economic Diversification
The AFC leader said his government would foster economic growth by investing in agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy, with a special emphasis on large and medium-scale palm oil production.
“The state will create the incentives and facilities for harvesting, storage, and direct export,” he explained, noting that this would open new markets and create jobs across multiple regions.
Infrastructure Development
On infrastructure, the AFC plans include major road, ferry, and port upgrades to better connect the hinterland to the coast.
“We will complete the Parika-to-Bartica road and introduce a roll-on/roll-off ferry service. We’ll ensure proper road links from Port Kaituma to Matthews Ridge, Baramita, and other Region One communities, so you can drive from Georgetown straight into these areas,” the candidate said.
Modernizing Transport and Reducing Congestion
The AFC also intends to tackle traffic congestion in Georgetown by modernizing the local transportation system.
“We will make Durban Park the national transportation hub — a central point linking all major destinations in the country,” he pledged.
The AFC leader assured voters that all these initiatives will be rolled out within the party’s first term, should they win the upcoming polls.
