AFC IS NOT DEAD, ITS WOUNDED BUT IT WILL LICK ITS WOUNDS AND RETURN STRONGER – PATTERSON

AFC Pledges Introspection and Rebuilding After Election Defeat

By Marvin Cato | HGP Nightly News

Speaking with the media recently, Alliance for Change (AFC) Chairman David Patterson reminded the nation that the elections were about the people, not winners and losers.

“We look beyond winners and losers. We have to hear what the people said with their votes. Our assessment is that the people have said no to dictatorship and victimization. They are hurting, tired of living a substandard quality of life while others live with opulence. They are saying they deserve at least the basics of proper food and health in this oil economy,” Patterson declared.

Despite failing to secure a seat in the National Assembly for the first time since 2006, Patterson stressed that the AFC is not finished. Instead, he described this moment as one for deep introspection and rebuilding, assuring supporters that the party will be back “bigger and stronger” with the right strategy.

Acknowledging disappointment, Patterson noted that executives and members had expected voters to trust them again based on their past performance in and out of Parliament. However, he admitted that the defeat is a lesson that demands harder work and smarter political engagement.

“This is not the end of the AFC. No. It is a time for deep introspection and rebuilding,” he emphasized.

The crushing defeat has renewed debate on whether the AFC should have once again collated with A Partnership for National Unity (APNU). Patterson suggested that this may be a lesson for the party moving forward.
