A major investment in education is underway on the East Coast of Demerara.
On Monday, the Ministry of Education officially turned the sod for the $440 million Company Road Primary School in Buxton. The project, which has been long awaited by residents, is expected to transform learning facilities for children in the community.
The new school will feature modern classrooms, science and ICT labs, a library, and recreational spaces, all aimed at delivering a more conducive learning environment for students.
Minister of Education Priya Manickchand noted that the initiative forms part of government’s Education Sector Plan 2025–2030, which focuses on reducing overcrowding in schools and ensuring equitable access to quality education across Guyana.
Community leaders welcomed the development, stressing that the facility will bring significant relief to parents and students, while boosting overall educational outcomes in Buxton.
