HGP NIGHTLY NEWS – A 17-year-old girl was shot in the forehead shortly after returning home from school on Monday, in what police are now investigating as an alleged murder-suicide at Block 22, Wismar, Linden.
Police identified the teenager as Toisha Andrews of Block 22 Squatting Area and the deceased man as 21-year-old Anthony Kellon Malachi Cato of Amelia’s Ward.
According to preliminary investigations, Andrews had just arrived home from school at around 4:30 p.m. when Cato, who police say was reportedly her boyfriend, approached her while armed with a firearm.
Police allege that Cato discharged a round, striking the teenager to her forehead.Andrews was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Cato was subsequently found with what investigators suspect was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
A .32 pistol was recovered near his body, according to police.Investigators are continuing to process the scene as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
