Under the global theme “A Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on Sustainable Development Goal 17,” the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) is emphasizing the critical role of collaboration and partnership in advancing quality and standards across all sectors of Guyana’s economy.
In observance of National Quality Week 2025, the Executive Director of the GNBS expressed appreciation to the Bureau’s partners and stakeholders who have embraced standards as a strategic tool for improving product quality, service delivery, and competitiveness.
“We’re humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve those who embrace standards to realize the full potential of their businesses, products, and services,” the Director noted.
GNBS underscored that Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17—focused on partnerships for the goals—reminds the world that achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda depends on strong collaboration among governments, industries, and civil society.
The Bureau highlighted that partnerships supported by the Government of Guyana, the private sector, industry associations, and regulatory agencies have been instrumental in advancing standards development, promoting innovation, and driving national economic growth.
Through collaboration, GNBS continues to design and implement standards that enhance product safety, expand market access, and promote sustainable production, thereby strengthening Guyana’s national quality infrastructure.
The Bureau also acknowledged the government’s policy support for integrating quality standards into national development strategies, which has contributed to economic diversification and resilience.
On the international stage, GNBS has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with several leading standards organizations and continues to engage with measurement institutes and quality-focused partners globally. These alliances, the Bureau noted, are vital to Guyana’s transformation and progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of National Quality Week 2025, GNBS has organized several key activities, including:
- A speech competition for secondary schools in Region Two,
- The GNBS Long Service Awards Ceremony, honoring dedicated staff, and
- A stakeholder sessionis scheduled to be held during the International Business Conference on October 15.
These initiatives collectively aim to promote a culture of quality, foster innovation, and strengthen partnerships for a more sustainable and globally competitive Guyana.
