A women-led oil and gas company will soon make history in Guyana’s petroleum sector. Sispro Incorporated, a Guyanese company headed by women entrepreneurs, is among four firms set to sign oil block contracts with the Government of Guyana in October.
The announcement was made by Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, during a recent interview on “Starting Point, Oil and Gas Edition.”
Sispro Inc. was one of several local companies that participated in Guyana’s inaugural oil block auction launched in 2022. Minister Bharrat noted that the upcoming contract signing represents an important step in broadening local participation in the oil and gas sector, while also highlighting the role of women in shaping the industry’s future.
The minister emphasized that the government remains committed to transparency and inclusivity in the management of the country’s natural resources. He added that beyond revenue generation, expanding the range of stakeholders in oil and gas will strengthen capacity and ensure that Guyanese companies, including women-led ventures, benefit from the industry’s growth.
The four contracts, including that of Sispro Inc., are expected to be finalized next month, marking another milestone in Guyana’s rapidly expanding oil and gas sector.
