ExxonMobil Guyana Reports $490M Spent with Local Vendors in First Half of 2025

In the first half of 2025 alone, ExxonMobil Guyana spent US$490 million directly with 1,800 local vendors, reinforcing its commitment to local content development through significant investments in business partnerships, workforce training, and community initiatives.
In a statement on Wednesday, the oil company reported that as of mid-2025, over 6,200 Guyanese are employed by ExxonMobil Guyana and its contractors, making up 70 percent of its workforce. Notably, one in three employees are women, with 1,800 Guyanese currently working offshore.
The company also marked a key milestone this year with the start of in-country fabrication services at the Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Inc. facility.
ExxonMobil Guyana President Alistair Routledge said the company is proud of the progress made in building local talent:
“We are seeing more Guyanese take on key roles in the oil and gas industry — a clear sign that our commitment to capacity building is working.”
With financial support from ExxonMobil Guyana, the Stabroek Block co-venturers, and the Government of Guyana, the Guyana Technical Training College Inc. is preparing to welcome its first cohort of fully trained students in October 2025—a major step in advancing technical education.
The company’s internship program is also showing results. From the inaugural class, five interns have already been hired full-time, while the 2025 intake continues to provide valuable opportunities for young professionals.
Additionally, employees in Guyana’s oil and gas sector have so far benefited from 370,000 hours of leadership, technical, and health, safety, and security training, further strengthening the country’s local capacity.
