Guyana’s drive to develop a world-class skilled workforce has gained fresh momentum with the launch of a new welding and pipefitting workforce development programme, spearheaded by Trident BMC in partnership with Machine Tech Guyana.

The initiative was officially unveiled during an open-house event at Machine Tech’s Providence warehouse, marking a significant stride toward equipping Guyanese with advanced technical skills to meet the growing demands of the oil and gas sector.

Karl Heimbrock, Managing Director of Machine Tech Guyana, explained that the programme focuses on high-level welding techniques, including duplex and stainless-steel work, which are vital for modern oilfield operations.

“This step represents growth, capability, and confidence in the future of our industry,” Hems stated, noting that the company currently employs 30 Guyanese workers, with plans for expansion.

He emphasized that the programme directly supports the government’s local content policy, ensuring that Guyanese workers remain at the forefront of the nation’s industrial and energy development.

In attendance at the launch, Minister of Public Service, Hon. Sonia Parag Ali, applauded both companies for aligning their training efforts with the government’s national workforce development agenda.

She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring that Guyanese are not “spectators” in the country’s growth, but active participants and beneficiaries.

Aaron Hicks, Sales and Business Manager of Trident BMC, added that the programme reflects the vision of President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s government to prioritize education, technical training, and human capital investment.

“We’re proud to be part of this partnership that will bring jobs to locals, help them learn new skills, and prepare future generations,” he said.

As Guyana’s economy continues to expand, the Trident BMC–Machine Tech partnership stands as a key example of how public-private collaboration can translate national prosperity into inclusive, people-centered growth.
