Guyana’s tourism sector continues to chart an exciting course forward, as Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Hon. Susan Rodrigues, officially welcomed the first cruise ship to dock in Guyana for 2025.
The Minister met with the ship’s captain and crew in a relaxed and cordial atmosphere, where both sides exchanged gifts to commemorate the occasion.
“I learned today from the pilot that we are the first [cruise ship] this year,” Minister Rodrigues noted with enthusiasm, adding that such visits mark a new chapter in Guyana’s tourism journey.
During a brief tour and interaction, Minister Rodrigues assured passengers and crew that their visit offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Guyana’s world-renowned eco-tourism product — its untouched natural beauty.
On board were 75 passengers and crew members, several of whom embarked on guided tours around Georgetown, with plans to visit Kaieteur Falls and other renowned destinations.
The Minister also highlighted that the visit aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s preparations for the upcoming Guyana Expo, which aims to promote Guyana as a top-tier destination for adventure and nature tourism.
“The Ministry is working tirelessly to showcase what Guyana has to offer, from our vibrant culture and cuisine to our pristine natural wonders,” Rodrigues said.
With the rapid expansion of the hotel industry and improved occupancy rates, Guyana continues to attract international attention as a rising eco-tourism hotspot.
As the country welcomes more visitors and strengthens its tourism infrastructure, Minister Rodrigues reaffirmed that Guyana is poised for takeoff, with the future looking bright for the nation’s growing tourism economy.
