DOUBLE MURDER IN BUCKTON – TEEN AMONG THE DEAD

Police are investigating a deadly late-night shooting in Middle Walk, Buxton, which claimed the lives of a teenager and a businessman, and left several others wounded.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dead are 16-year-old Leon McFarlane of Lot 71 Middle Walk, and 38-year-old Mark Anthony Correia, a businessman of Lot 75 Republic Drive, Beterverwagting.
According to eyewitnesses, gunmen opened fire in the area, striking multiple individuals who were socializing. Several others were injured, including a police constable and a 60-year-old man.
Leon’s grieving mother, Alexis Guild, believes her son may have been mistakenly targeted:
“That boy looked out for me. He was a good son. They came for someone else… they took my son because he resembled the target.”
Another resident, Errol Glenn, recalled narrowly missing the attack after stepping away to take his daughter home. When he returned, he found his friend Mark Corlette dead on the same spot where they had been playing dominoes just minutes earlier.
Police believe the attack was carried out by suspects using a silver-colored motor car, possibly bearing license plates PVV 7616 or PVV 7661, which was seen circling the neighborhood before the shooting.
Investigations are ongoing.
