President’s College Marks 40 Years of Excellence

President’s College, one of Guyana’s premier secondary schools, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, with students, staff, and alumni reflecting on four decades of academic achievement, camaraderie, and nation building.
For Fifth Form student Taqqia Singh, her time at the institution has been transformative:
“My time at President’s College has been truly a memorable one so far,” she shared, echoing the pride felt by many of her peers.
Principal Samanta Success noted that the school’s journey over the years has been guided by its motto, “We Strive for Excellence.” She emphasized that President’s College has remained committed to creating equal opportunities for all students, regardless of background.
“One of the greatest legacies is that all ethnicities come to President’s College, and so there’s equal opportunities for all to learn,” Success explained.
Beyond academics, the principal highlighted the institution’s achievements in sports, culture, and the arts, pointing out that President’s College was the inaugural national champions in school sports competitions.
She further stressed that the school’s success is measured not only by test scores but also by the professional and personal growth of its alumni. Over the years, President’s College has produced outstanding leaders, including doctors, lawyers, and executives serving in Guyana and abroad.
“In this 40th year, one of our first batch of students, Toussaint Boyce, will become the CEO of Republic Bank Guyana. We also celebrate prominent professionals like Dr. Mahendra Carpen, a leading cardiologist, and many others who continue to make their mark,” Principal Success noted.
With four decades of service, President’s College continues to stand as a beacon of educational excellence, nurturing leaders and innovators while building a legacy that spans academics, sports, and cultural contributions.
