PENALTIES SHOULD BE INSTITUTED ON CONSULTING FIRMS AND AGENCIES WITH RESPONSIBILITY FOR INCOMPLETE CAPITAL PROJECTS – AUDITOR GENERAL DEODAT SHARMA

Auditor General Calls for Penalties on Delayed Capital Projects

By Antonio Dey | HGP Nightly News.

Auditor General Deodat Sharma is calling for stricter accountability measures to be enforced on consulting firms and agencies responsible for incomplete capital projects.

Speaking on Thursday during the official presentation of the 2024 Auditor General’s Report, Sharma emphasized the need for penalties to be applied where projects remain stalled or unfinished, noting that delays not only affect government finances but also disrupt services intended for citizens.

The Auditor General stressed that enforcing consequences would help ensure greater efficiency, transparency, and timely delivery of public works.
