MAHIPAUL RAISES ALARM OVER INCOMPLETE $15.9B GOV’T COMPLEX, PROJECT SLATED FOR 2026 COMPLETION

By Antonio Dey | HGP Nightly News

Despite the expenditure of $15.9 billion, the massive Government Office Complex at Eccles on the East Bank of Demerara is still far from completion.

This was the concern raised by former Member of Parliament and now Vice Presidential Candidate for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Ganesh Mahipaul.

Mahipaul stressed that taxpayers deserve better accountability and transparency on how public funds are being managed, noting that while millions have already been spent, citizens are yet to see tangible progress on the project.

The complex, once completed, is intended to centralize several key government ministries and agencies, but construction delays have pushed the expected finish date to 2026
