ISWE ADMITS KILLING GIRLFRIEND SHONETTE DOVER IN 2021

HGP Nightly News – Shaquawn Alleyne, the man accused of killing his girlfriend Shonette Dover, has pleaded guilty to murder, bringing the 2021 case closer to its final stage.

Alleyne, also known as “Iwse,” appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Demerara High Court on Tuesday.

The indictment, presented by State Counsel Corbin, stated that Alleyne murdered Dover in March 2021.

When asked by the court how he wished to plead to the charge, Alleyne answered, “Guilty.”

The court also confirmed that Alleyne had signed a written statement accepting the facts surrounding the offence and that he understood the basis on which he was entering the guilty plea.

Following the admission, Justice Kissoon ordered several reports to be prepared before sentencing.

A probation report is expected to outline Alleyne’s background and personal circumstances. The court also ordered a psychiatric assessment to be conducted by a qualified professional.

Both reports are expected to be filed by June 16.

The prosecution has also been directed to submit a statement outlining aggravating factors, along with any victim impact statements from Dover’s relatives or loved ones.

Alleyne’s attorneys, Fung-a-Fat and Dominique Bess, are expected to file submissions on mitigating factors that they want the court to consider before sentence is imposed.

The Guyana Prison Service has also been ordered to submit a report on Alleyne’s conduct while he was on remand.

Sentencing has been fixed for June 17, 2026.
