HOLIDAY PACKAGES FOR VISITORS, RETURNING GUYANESE – MINISTER OF TOURISM REVEALS

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Susan Rodrigues has announced the introduction of special holiday packages designed to attract visitors and returning Guyanese during the festive season.

Speaking with Nightly News, Minister Rodrigues revealed that the Christmas holiday packages will include accommodation and guided tours to some of Guyana’s premier destinations such as Kaieteur Falls and local attractions in Georgetown.

“We’re giving them a full package for Christmas — accommodations, tours to Kaieteur Falls, city tours, and visits to the Christmas Village on Main Street,” she explained.

The Minister noted that these packages are part of a broader initiative to increase tourist arrivals, boost foreign currency spending, and improve hotel occupancy rates across the country.

Since assuming office, Minister Rodrigues has championed efforts to strengthen Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sectors, noting that the country’s growing oil industry has drawn new waves of business travelers who could now “marry business with pleasure.”

She emphasized that the new holiday packages will not only benefit visitors but will also have positive ripple effects for small and large-scale local businesses, including restaurants, tour operators, and transport services.

“We’re working on Christmas to tie in accommodation as well as the tours,” the Minister said, adding that similar packages will be developed for future holiday seasons.

As Guyana positions itself as one of the Caribbean’s fastest-growing destinations, the Ministry of Tourism continues to pursue strategies to make the country an attractive choice for both regional and international travelers.
