Court Hears Ballot Exclusion Challenge

The High Court will on Tuesday continue hearings in the case filed by the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) challenging the ballot practices of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM). The matter, brought by applicant Crystal Fiser, was adjourned after FGM’s attorney requested more time to review submissions from the defence.
International observers, including the European Union, OAS, and the Carter Center, have been monitoring proceedings. Chief Justice (ag.) Navenra Singh has indicated his intention to deliver a ruling within the week.
