LINDEN, GUYANA — President’s College (District 4) delivered a dominant performance on the waters of the Demerara River on Sunday to capture the overall championship trophy at the 2026 ExxonMobil Guyana National Inter-Schools Kayaking Competition at the Watooka Guest House in Linden.
Featuring top student-athletes representing various administrative regions—including Potaro/Siparuni, North West, and Rupununi—the fifth annual staging produced fierce competition across multiple water disciplines. President’s College edged out local favorites New Silver City Secondary (District 10), who finished as runners-up, while St. Ignatius Secondary (District 9) claimed a hard-fought 3rd-place podium finish.
Plaisance FC Crowned EDFA Youth Ensemble U-13 Champions; Secure National Championship Spot

BUXTON, EAST COAST DEMERARA — Plaisance FC has officially been crowned champions of the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) Youth Ensemble U-13 League following the final round of fixtures at the Buxton Community Ground on Friday.
Plaisance FC clinched the title after finishing at the top of the points standings. Title rivals Buxton Stars FC fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Mahaica Determinators FC in their final match, settling for 2nd place. Melanie FC and Golden Stars FC completed the regional table in 3rd and 4th places, respectively. By securing the top two spots, both Plaisance FC and Buxton Stars FC have officially qualified as EDFA representatives for the upcoming Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Youth Ensemble U-13 National Championship.
Guyana Women Finish FIBA Centrobasket Qualifiers With Historic Win Over Bahamas

MANAGUA, NICARAGUA — The Guyana National Senior Women’s Basketball team concluded their campaign in the 2027 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifiers at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, securing a historic victory before suffering an overtime heartbreak.
On Friday, Ruth Adams poured in 24 points while Joy Adams delivered a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead Guyana to a 66-57 triumph over the Bahamas—marking the team’s first victory of the international tournament.
In their final fixture on Saturday against hosts Nicaragua, Guyana pushed the match into overtime behind a stellar performance from Joy Adams (19 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 assists). However, Nicaragua held on in extra time to hand Guyana a tight 92-87 defeat.
Centuries From Awais and Babar Give Pakistan 187-Run Lead Over WI Select XI

TAROUBA, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO — Pakistan maintained firm control of their four-day warm-up match against the West Indies Select XI, heading into the final day at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy with a commanding 187-run second-innings lead.
After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan declared their first innings at a massive 455 for 4, anchored by fluent centuries from Azan Awais and star batsman Babar Azam. Ryan Bandoo was the pick of the West Indies Select XI attack, taking 2 for 86.
In response, the West Indies Select XI reached 268 for 8 in 84 overs at the close of play on Monday. Middle-order batsman Kavem Hodge top-scored with a resilient 92, supported by opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s 51. Fast bowler Mohammad Ali spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling effort, taking 3 for 36.
Windward Islands Thrash Guyana U-19 by 219 Runs in CWI Rising Stars Tournament

ST. GEORGE’S, ANTIGUA & BARBUDA — Guyana U-19 suffered a heavy 219-run defeat at the hands of the Windward Islands on Monday in their CWI 2026 Rising Stars U-19 Championship encounter at the Pigotts Sports Ground.
Opting to bat first, the Windward Islands posted an imposing 315 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs, driven by a captain’s innings of 87 off 58 balls from Theo Edward. Adrian Hetmyer was the standout bowler for Guyana, picking up 4 for 47.
Guyana’s chase faltered early against disciplined pace, as the team was bundled out for just 96 runs in 17.1 overs. Darwin Joseph provided the only resistance, remaining unbeaten on 33, while Eltran Glasgow ripped through the Guyanese lineup to seal a dominant win for the Windwards.
