RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games concluded on a high note for Guyana as National Long Jump Record Holder, Emanuel Archibald, secured a podium finish in Riyadh.
Archibald claimed the Bronze medal in the Men’s Long Jump with a best leap of 7.56 meters. He finished behind Senegal’s Amath Faye and the eventual champion, Anvar Anvarov of Uzbekistan.
Archibald’s performance makes him only the second Guyanese athlete to earn a medal at these games, joining Women’s 100m Bronze medalist Keliza Smith.
Other notable Guyanese performances included Leslain Baird, who finished 4th in the Men’s Javelin with a season-best throw of 72.26 meters. Two-time Olympian Chelsea Edghill also represented the Golden Arrowhead well, reaching the quarterfinals in Table Tennis and breaking back into the international world rankings.

The West Indies Men will look to salvage some pride tonight as they face New Zealand in the final ODI of the tour at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Play is scheduled to begin at 21:00hrs. The Windies are aiming for a consolation victory after losing the first two games of the three-match series. It has been a tough tour for the Caribbean side, having already lost the T20I series 3-1.
