The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has launched new guidelines to help health professionals combat vaccine misinformation—a growing global issue threatening immunization confidence and public health progress. The documents provide practical tools for health workers, journalists, and educators to identify and counter false vaccine-related claims. They outline tactics used by misinformation campaigns, such as emotional manipulation, selective use of data, and conspiracy theories, while offering guidance on spotting red flags like sensational headlines and spelling errors.

Meanwhile, in Trinidad and Tobago, a weak tornado and waterspouts damaged roofs and homes in northwestern Trinidad on Tuesday, though no casualties were reported. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, the event resulted from intense thunderstorm activity triggered by a low-level trough. Local Government Minister Khadija Ameen said authorities are assessing damage and warned residents not to use electricity in soaked houses due to electrocution risks.

In Jamaica, police are searching for 46-year-old Lawrence “Marcus” Sergeant, the father of 13-year-old Chantina Sergeant, whose charred body was discovered under a zinc sheet beside a burned refrigerator at her Clarendon home. Investigators believe he may assist with the probe into her death. Chantina had been reported missing last Wednesday, and her remains were found during a police visit to the family’s property.
