A U.S. military strike on a vessel off the coast of Venezuela on Tuesday killed six suspected drug traffickers, according to President Donald Trump, who called it part of ongoing counter-narcotics operations. Trump claimed the target was linked to a โdesignated terrorist organization,โ though no evidence or details were provided. The strike marks another controversial use of U.S. military force under Trumpโs renewed policies.
Brazilโs Bolsonaro Remains Under House Arrest
In Brazil, Supreme Court Justice Alexander D. Morris has ruled that former president Jair Bolsonaro will remain under house arrest, rejecting his legal teamโs request for release. Bolsonaro, who was convicted last month of plotting a coup and sentenced to 27 years in prison, is accused of trying to involve former U.S. President Trump in influencing investigations. Trump has since imposed tariffs and sanctions on Brazil in retaliation, calling the case a โwitch hunt.โ
