HEAT DETECTORS TRIGGERED AS FIRE BREAKS OUT ABOARD LIZA UNITY

HGP Nightly News – Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding a small fire aboard the Liza Unity FPSO.

The Ministry of Natural Resources said it was informed of the incident by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited on Monday.

According to the Ministry, heat detectors were activated in the laundry room within the vessel’s living quarters.

A small fire was detected and quickly extinguished.

Emergency response procedures were immediately activated.

All workers aboard the FPSO were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

The Ministry said the relevant regulatory authorities will now conduct follow-up investigations to determine what caused the incident.

It has also committed to remaining engaged with ExxonMobil and regulators as the investigation continues.

The Ministry said worker safety remains a priority across Guyana’s offshore operations.
