Guyanese-Canadian Innovators Pledge to Give Back Through Public Sector Digital Transformation

Two Guyanese-Canadian inventors are leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies to improve service efficiency in Guyana’s public and private sectors, with a focus on education, healthcare, oil and gas, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

Anthony Harris, President and CEO of E-Magic Inc., told Nightly News that his Ontario-based company—now local content certified in Guyana—is committed to helping local agencies adopt innovative digital systems.

“We’ve been here for five to six years, looking at projects and working with agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), using our Digital Twin and AI software,” Harris explained.

Harris was among the participants in a recent Canadian Business Delegation visiting Guyana, where he met with government and private sector partners to identify collaboration opportunities.

“There’s so much potential in this country—it’s growing fast, and we want to be part of that transformation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Faud Khan, Chief Technology Officer of Sprig Learning, outlined his company’s focus on early childhood education. Based in Ottawa, Sprig Learning provides digital assessment tools and classroom resources powered by artificial intelligence to support literacy and lifelong learning.

“We’re exploring partnerships with the University of Guyana to give Master’s and PhD students opportunities to research reading outcomes and evaluate how our programs can help the nation meet its educational goals,” Khan noted.

Also part of the visiting delegation were Juan Acosta from Bionetix International Corporation Inc. and Tamara Fathi from Export Development Canada (EDC).

Acosta praised Guyana’s progress in sanitation, saying:

“It’s been an amazing experience seeing where Guyana is headed and how it aligns with the global Agenda 2030 goals.”

Fathi added that EDC is eager to strengthen partnerships between Canadian exporters and the Government of Guyana, ensuring long-term sustainable growth.

Bionetix International produces biological, eco-friendly treatment products used globally to support environmental management, while EDC provides financial, insurance, and trade solutions to help Canadian firms expand internationally.

Together, these innovators are helping bridge Canada-Guyana relations and drive digital transformation in the public sector—turning innovation into impact for national development.
