GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – As part of a growing effort to deepen regional connectivity, InterCaribbean Airways and the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) are ramping up promotions for their direct flight service between Georgetown, Guyana, and St. George’s, Grenada.
The promotional drive will culminate in a significant event at the Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, on Thursday, starting at 1:00 PM. The event will showcase travel opportunities, accommodation deals, and on-the-spot bookings for those interested in experiencing the Caribbean gem.
“It really is the place to be if you want to learn about Grenada—what to do, where to stay, and how to get there,” said Tanya Charles, Director of Sales and Marketing at InterCaribbean Airways and also GTA’s Director of Tourism.
New Air Link Strengthens Caribbean Ties
Launched in 2024, the air bridge connects Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) in Grenada to Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) in Guyana. Flights operate twice weekly, offering travelers greater access to leisure, business, and family visits.
“This isn’t just a route. It’s a bridge for cultural exchange, trade, and tourism between two dynamic Caribbean countries,” Charles noted.
Three Islands, One Fare
Charles reminded attendees that Grenada is a tri-island state, comprising Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique—each offering a unique travel experience under one airfare.
“Many don’t realize that when you visit Grenada, you’re also unlocking two more islands with distinct cultural vibes. It’s three getaways in one trip,” she explained.
Why Grenada?
Grenada—often referred to as the Spice Island—is world-renowned for its organic chocolate, pristine beaches, and vibrant festivals.
“Our Grenadian chocolate flew off the shelves when we showcased it in Guyana earlier this year,” said Charles. “It’s organic, dark, and delicious—just like our culture.”
Strengthening Caribbean Tourism
The flight connection and promotional efforts are expected to boost intra-regional tourism, expand business opportunities, and foster deeper people-to-people ties. Representatives from InterCaribbean Airways and the GTA will be present at the event to answer questions and finalize travel plans for eager tourists.
