As Amerindian Heritage Month celebrations continue, Centaur Holdings has been recognized by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) for its tremendous contribution to the promotion of local products and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Since 2016, Centaur Holdings, through its brand Green Diamond Foods, has been celebrating Guyanese traditions by offering products deeply rooted in Amerindian culture. These include cassava cassareep, cassava bread, plantain flour, and traditional teas, inspired by the rich traditions of the Pomeroon.
Recognition from GNBS
In a statement on Friday, GNBS highlighted that Centaur Holdings’ products not only reflect cultural authenticity but also support local agriculture while catering to both domestic and international markets.
General Manager Michellina Richmond emphasized the importance of GNBS certification and the Made in Guyana Standards Mark, noting that they have significantly boosted the brand’s trustworthiness, recognition, and competitiveness.
“Certification is not just a badge; it is a gateway to growth, visibility, and the preservation of cultural pride,” Richmond stated.
Cultural Pride and Quality
Richmond further noted that with strict quality control and production protocols, Centaur Holdings continues to thrive in the agro-processing industry, while also playing a vital role in telling Guyana’s cultural story through food.
GNBS reaffirmed that Centaur Holdings’ dedication stands as a reminder that these products represent not only food but also a vital piece of Guyana’s cultural narrative, showcasing passion, pride, and quality.
