Minister of Education Sonia Parag has extended heartfelt greetings to educators across Guyana in celebration of World Teachers’ Day 2025, commending them for their unwavering dedication, hard work, and vital role in shaping the nation’s future.
In her address, Minister Parag expressed deep appreciation for the teaching fraternity, describing their contribution as both noble and monumental.
“Allow me to wish you the very best for the academic year 2025–2026 and in your personal lives as well. You have the noble and monumental task of nurturing our young minds into beautiful adults,” she stated.
The Minister reaffirmed her commitment to building a strong and respectful partnership with educators, one grounded in professionalism, accountability, and open dialogue. She further pledged to strengthen support systems not only for students and parents but also for teachers, acknowledging the importance of their well-being in achieving national educational goals.
Reflecting on the government’s progress over the past five years, Minister Parag emphasized that the education sector remains a top priority, with reforms aimed at improving teacher training, modernizing classrooms, and enhancing learning outcomes.
“On this World Teachers’ Day, recognize your importance, recognize your value—as we do. In the next five years, I look forward to the support of teachers in ensuring that our education sector rises as high as it can go,” she said.
In addition to her Teachers’ Day message, Minister Parag convened an introductory meeting with members of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), where she was briefed on several pending matters, including teacher promotions and appointments.
The engagement, according to the ministry, forms part of a renewed focus on streamlining the education system and ensuring that educators receive the recognition, advancement, and support they deserve.
