More than a century of life has given Ms. Blanche Duke a wealth of wisdom to share. The retired teacher from Beterverwagting on the East Coast of Demerara celebrated her 101st birthday, surrounded by loved ones and well-wishers.
Ms. Duke, who dedicated her life to education and community service, reflected on her journey with gratitude, pointing to friendship, kindness, and faith as the cornerstones of a long and fulfilling life.
She spent decades molding young minds, authoring several works, and actively contributing to the literary and cultural landscape of her community. Even in her centenarian years, Ms. Duke remains an inspiration, continuing to write and share her knowledge with younger generations.
Family members described her as a beacon of strength and resilience whose life story serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, love, and service to others.
