ADRIANA YOUNGE CASE…HOTEL CAMERAS WERE WORKING, LEGAL BATTLE COMING – ATTORNEY

Family’s Lawyer Questions Delay in Reviewing Hotel Surveillance Footage

By Tiana Cole | HGP Nightly News

Attorney-at-law Dr. Dexter Todd, who represents the family of 11-year-old Adriana Younge, has raised serious concerns over the pace and transparency of the police investigation into her death. Speaking on Thursday, Dr. Todd confirmed that surveillance cameras at the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen—where the incident occurred—were operational at the time; however, no action has been taken by the police to review or disclose the footage.

“We are aware that the cameras were active,” Dr. Todd stated. “It’s deeply concerning that investigators seem to be waiting until the footage is lost before responding.”

He warned against any delay tactics that may ultimately result in the disappearance of digital evidence, which could be critical in understanding the circumstances surrounding Adriana’s tragic death.

Independent Expert Stonewalled

Dr. Todd revealed that the only document handed over to the legal team thus far has been the final postmortem report, which was shared with Dr. Carol Terry, a forensic quality assurance expert based in Georgia, USA.

Dr. Terry had requested several follow-ups, including:

  • Photographs and videos of the pool area
  • Details on the pool’s tile pattern
  • Information on any potential hazards or obstructions within the pool

“More than half of the pool has no tiles,” Dr. Todd noted, suggesting that certain body impressions could be key forensic indicators.

To date, Dr. Terry’s questions have gone unanswered by Guyanese authorities.

Uninterviewed Witnesses and Ignored Leads

Dr. Todd also criticized the police for failing to interview several individuals who were seen on video at the scene. Notably, the person who first broadcast Adriana’s disappearance via livestream—and remained on site—was never contacted.

“The police cannot claim these persons refused to give statements when they were never approached,” he emphasized.

He disclosed that a retired Canadian investigator hired by the family submitted a comprehensive report, but the document remains unacknowledged by local authorities.

Legal Action Looming

Dr. Todd reiterated that once the Guyana Police Force declares its investigation closed, the family intends to pursue legal action.

“We will battle this in court,” he asserted. “We are prepared and we will not let this matter fade.”

Despite claims by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum that the investigation remains active, the family’s legal team and private investigators believe crucial opportunities have already been missed.

Adrianna Younge’s death continues to stir national outrage, and the family insists they will not rest until answers—and accountability—are delivered.
