The Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) has officially launched the third edition of its International Business Conference (IBC) Guyana 2025, under the theme “Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity.”
Set to take place from October 14 to 16 at the Guyana Marriott Hotel, the high-level conference will unite business leaders, investors, and policymakers from not only Suriname and Guyana but also across the Caribbean and around the world.
Speaking at Wednesday’s launch event, Her Excellency Liselle Blankendal, Suriname’s Ambassador to Guyana, emphasized the critical role of the IBC in fostering stronger regional economic cooperation.
“Guyana is undergoing rapid transformation, and Suriname is also moving toward economic revitalization,” the ambassador said. “This conference is timely and necessary to align our goals and open doors for expanded global opportunity.”
The conference will spotlight collaboration in key sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, and tourism.
Chair of the SGCC, Dr. Vishnu Doerga, reflected on the chamber’s evolution into a vibrant cross-border platform for innovation and enterprise.
“We’ve grown to over 100 members — 40% from Guyana, 40% from Suriname, 10% regional, and 10% international. Our goal is to keep connecting businesses and transforming our regional economy,” Dr. Doerga stated.
Pretty Paul Singh Jr., former Managing Director of Guyana Port Inc., praised the conference as a “bridge between vision and execution”, noting that previous engagements influenced his organization’s decision to return in 2025.
“It’s more than just a chamber — it’s a space energized by practical insights and a strong spirit of collaboration. It’s where ideas become action,” Singh said.
IBC Guyana 2025 promises a dynamic blend of panel discussions, B2B matchmaking, and networking forums — all aimed at shaping the next phase of sustainable regional growth.
