To modernise healthcare delivery, President Irfaan Ali has announced that within the next six months, Guyana will roll out a nationwide drone-based blood delivery system.
The system is expected to revolutionise emergency response, ensuring that life-saving blood supplies can be dispatched rapidly to hospitals and health centres, particularly in hinterland and remote communities where timely access has been a long-standing challenge.
President Ali announced the commissioning of the $6.6 billion No. 75 Regional Hospital, a facility designed to boost healthcare access along the Corentyne Coast and surrounding areas.
According to the President, the initiative will form part of Guyana’s broader plan to build a modern, technology-driven healthcare sector, guaranteeing equitable access to healthcare regardless of geography.
